QUEBEC FISHING – AIR TAMARAC OUTFITTER
NEWSLETTER
Dear sportsmen and friends,
Once again we find ourselves at the end of another successful year and, into the spirit of the Holiday Season, we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our valued customers who, for the last 15 years, have placed in us their confidence. Thanks for your support; we look forward to our 16th season with a great deal of enthusiasm.
2009 FISHING SEASON IN REVIEW
Having experienced unusually nice and warm temperatures early in May, the rest of the season took place under cold and dreary weather. Your memories of last summer are probably the same!
This drastic change in temperature has even caused a stoppage of spawing for walleyes in May and delayed the success of our fishing season by a good two weeks. Those of you who came in June will remember !
Although fishing success occured later into the season, we ended having an excellent one! In fact, both at Gouin Reservoir and at Lake Hebert, the average size of catches was higher and several trophies were caught and released. From our experience, and recollecting all your comments, Gouin Reservoir looks more healthy than ever and lake Hébert is giving a bigger average on walleyes year after year. Our efforts for the protection, conservation and enhancement of our territories bear fruits. Visit the photo albums on our website or look at our brochure to convince you.
2009 also marked the transition to new 4-stroke outboard motors with brand new 15 hp Mercury at Gouin and 20 hp Mercury at Hébert. After a short adjustment period, we can say that we're satisfied with the performance and fuel economy of these engines and we announce that we will get the same engines in 2010.
In number of guests, 2009 was another great year and, with your loyalty, we continue to claim the highest rate of return of customers in the industry. This is directly dependent on the fishing success that you get on our lakes.
You will therefore not be surprised to learn that bookings are well underway for 2010!
OUR MISSION
Air Tamarac has made a major shift three years ago by abandoning its hunting activities in order to concentrate 100% on its field of excellence: fly-in walleye and trophy pike fishing. After three great seasons completed uniquely in this sense, we have validated our mission and can more than ever say that We are the seaplane specialists for walleye and northern pike fishing!
ABOUT GOUIN RESERVOIR
Early in 2009 we have completely renovated cabin # 45 at Mattawa Bay. The chalet became highly appreciated afterward and today we recommend this choice of location for your next trip to Gouin. The high quality of its accommodation is impressive.
Chalet # 14 in West Saraana Bay was also expanded into a three-bedroom cottage with enclosed indoor shower, new windows and flooring. Already very popular, this chalet is now part of our favorites.
This rejuvenation will also be given to cabin #16 on the island in Saraana Bay. The latter, getting older and in need, will join chalets # 14, # 17 and # 45 as newly refurbished.
Year after year we invest a maximum of energy and money to provide good accommodations and equipments. At this rate, we expect to have toured all the facilities within 3 years, including Plamondon Bay #40-41 and East Saraana Bay
#30-31.
We also announce the construction of new privies for each of our chalets at Gouin and Hebert. They will be built to the standards of the QOF and will greatly improve your overall experience with us!
ABOUT LAKE HÉBERT
Our most significant investment in 2009 was undoubtedly the fleet of new LUND 16’ boats with double floor, 20 h.p. 4-stroke motors, swivel seats and rubber nets, improving your comfort on the water, your safety and fishing time. Starting in 2010 we will also provide life jackets for all Lake Hebert guests.
Cabin #22 was also completely redone as a new chalet and offers now what we think is the new standard in our business. Our big log cabins # 20, 21 and 23 also had their share of love! A crew of 3 guys stayed on the island until the end of October for isolation work and log treatment, to protect them for years to come.
For 2010 we will build ‘’fish-house’’ for cottages # 23 and # 25 and refine the external finishes of each chalet.
It is important to note that the limit of 4 walleyes per person at Lake Hébert and the obligation to put back to the lake every trophy will remain in force for the future. For the last two seasons we are witnessing an increase in the average size walleyes and in the number of trophy fish released to the lake.
This allows us to believe that we made the right decision with our strict fishing rules. You will find at Lake Hébert the best walleye fishing in Quebec!
AIR TAMARAC IN LA TUQUE, QC
In the last three seasons we have been able to serve you better with a total of four seaplanes. Our two Beavers and two Cessnas combined with our new base in La Tuque, Qc have enabled several of you to make departures from the pavement directly toward Gouin Reservoir and Lake Hébert. Although our main base will remain in Clova, where we get the chance to meet most of you, the option of flying from La Tuque will be offered again in 2010. Clova will always be our summer headquarter, and it is also where our kids have more fun and adventures !
OUR 2010 TEAM
With Jean, Rémi, Éric, James and Dominic as pilots of the four seaplanes, we guarantee you on-time, safe and quality flights to your camps. Up at Hebert, Daniel will be there with his good cares to serve and entertain. Éliane and the kids will be at the base with a warm welcome upon arrival at the seaplane base.
We are proud of our low rate of turnover of staff. We have an excellent team and the quality of our staff contributes greatly to the success of your fishing experience with us!
